Simmer Pot Recipe

As the leaves start to turn shades of red and gold and the air takes on a cool, crisp edge, we know it's time for Fall and all things cozy.

One of the simplest ways to get in the Fall spirit at home, is to whip up your very own fall-scented simmer pot!

Just imagine the warm, inviting aroma filling your home as you cuddle up with a good book or enjoy a movie night in.

Fall Scent Fails

As a dog mom and a bit of a clean freak, I've tried a lot of options to keep our apartment smelling good..

This includes numerous brands of wax melts, plug-ins, room spray, and just about every candle you can think of.

Don't get me wrong... I love the first couple hours after I put fresh wax in my melt. But from my own experience, no matter what brand I use, the smell goes away after 2-3 hours. And candles.. LOVE them.. big candle girlie here. But realistically, a normal size candle lasts about 3-4 days in my house. I spend entirely too much money on them... and we all know now they are not necessarily good for us.

I'm a sucker for Fall scents. Anything warm, cozy, or coffee-scented.

How To Make Your Home Smell Like Fall

What you'll need for this recipe:

  • Apples

  • Lemons

  • Vanilla Extract

  • Cinnamon Sticks

  • Pot

  • Water

My measurements:

  • 1 large lemon (sliced)

  • 1 medium sized green apple (sliced)

  • 3 small cinnamon sticks

  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract

  • Step 1: Fill a pot about halfway with water. Put on the stove on medium heat while you prepare your ingredients.

  • Step 2: Slice your lemon and apple and set to the side.

  • Step 3: Now that your water is a bit warmed up, put all your ingredients into the pot.. one sliced apple, one sliced lemon, one tablespoon of vanilla extract, and three small cinnamon sticks. Stir.

  • Step 4: Cover pot and let the water get to a boil.

  • Step 5: Uncover pot (you don't need the lid anymore.) Stir and change your stove to simmer (or the lowest heat setting.)

  • Step 6: Enjoy the fall scent that will fill your house! ❤︎

You can keep this going all day, or as long as you wish. Just make sure that when the water starts to get low to add more!

Don't Get Overwhelmed

This is 1000% a recipe that you can get away with "messing up." Whether you do more or less of a certain ingredient, it's still going to make your house smell amazing!

Play around with it! Add cranberries, rosemary, or coffee beans.. there are tons of ingredients you can add to this recipe to change the scent. Figure out what your favorite is!

A simmer pot is perfect for a cleaning/refresh day, when you want to relax, when you're hosting a party - I mean, when is it not a good idea!?

Try it out and let me know what you think! ◡̈
